DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING RESEARCH AND STATISTICS (PRS)
Mandate of the Department
The Department, being the think-tank of the Ministry, is responsible for coordination of policies, programmes, projects and key activities of the Ministries and its Agencies for the actualization of its Vision and Mission.
Functions of the Department
The department is vested with the following responsibilities:
- Coordinates policy formulation and priority settings in the Art, culture and Creative Economy Sector of the ministry.
- The Department monitors, inspects and evaluates the implementation of projects and programmes of the ministry and its Agencies
- Coordinates data collection, processing and dissemination in the Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Sector.
- Liaises with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National planning in the development and implementation of Medium Term National Development Plan (MTNDP)
- Liaises with Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) in monitoring the implementation of key Government priorities.
- Coordinates the preparation of Council and other Executive memos.
- Prepares and disseminates the Ministry’s Annual progress report;
- Coordinates the preparation of intra-departmental work-plan in the ministry.
The Department is structured into four (4) divisions, namely;
- Policy and planning
- Project monitoring and evaluation
- Research and statistics and
- Bilateral and multilateral
