HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

INTRODUCTION

The Human Resources Management Department is one of the Common Services Departments of the Ministry headed by a Director, Grade Level 17. The department is divided into two divisions

  1. Appointment, Promotion and Discipline
  2. Training and Staff Welfare

The Two divisions are structurally headed by Deputy Directors. The appointment, Promotion and Discipline Division consists of branches and section as follows:

  • Promotion
  • Appointment and Discipline
  • Records and Nominal Roll
  • Open and Confidential Registry
  • Variation
  • Integrated and Personnel Payroll Information System

The Training and Staff Welfare Division consist of the following

  • Training
  • Staff Welfare

FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Documentation of Newly employed/deployed staff
  • Keeping and maintenance of records of staff of the Ministry
  • Personnel Manpower
  • Conducting Promotion for Junior Staff and Senior Staff
  • Handling of Discipline Matters
  • Processing of Appeals and Petitions
  • Handling of Nominal Roll Matters
  • Management of NYSC/IT
  • Supervising the Promotion Exercise of Parastatals under the Ministry
  • Initiating Memo and Circulars
  • Processing of Retirement for Staff
  • Training of staff/Capacity Building
  • Processing of Staff Welfare Issues such as 1st 28 days, Burial matters, Sports, NHIS, FISH, Group Life Assurance and
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Permanent Secretary
